    I applied a transfer for the first time today and hand some cracks and missing bits. You said you used acrylic paint and another kind I’ve never heard of. Can you explain to me a bit more about the paints. Do you paint right on the transfer on put on the clear coat (satin) and paint on that. If you have a video just on that, please give me link. I want to learn how to fix mistakes. Thank you so much and I love your videos.😊

    You posted this at the perfect time Amy. Question for you! I am getting ready to paint a cherry wood dresser set, and I'm worried about bleed through. I have scuff sanded and it has taken off almost all of the very thin topcoat. I am going to be using dixie bell silk (anchor) I really don't want to prime under it. What is your opinion please. Good luck with your piece. I am sure it will be beautiful after you redo it.

    Flip it furniture, please please explain WHY Dixie Belle?

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture 3 дні тому

      Sure, I’ve been using it since 2017. It’s my favorite paint. Blends well, great coverage and easy to use. One of the main reasons I started using it was the price. I liked that 8 oz could cover an entire piece for a lower price and I could buy a bunch of colors and not pay an arm and a leg.

    I painted my screened porch patio concrete floor which had something bleeding through that would not stop coming through and eating away the paint. I had professionals address this with no avail. So, I decided to do it myself. With a bit of research I used Dixie Belle Boss, 3 coats, 1st I scrubbed the floor , drying days between then 3 coats of Dixie Belle Sand Bar, then top coat with Dixie Belle and 3 coats of Gator Hide. Well, so far so good. I made it through a Carolina summer and winter and It looks really nice. I do think I’ll need to decorate the gator hide in another year. It’s just a suggestion. I’m sold on the boss! Hope it can help someone. 😊

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture 4 дні тому

      Which do you use? Do you prime with oil and then use the water-based paint over it? 🤔 I’ve always thought that was a big no-no so I never tried before

    • @Funkensense
      @Funkensense 4 дні тому

      @@FlipItFurniture I always prime with oil when painting raw wood because it's the only thing that blocks tannins. You can paint over it but it has to fully cure. Paint each coat of oil based primer and let it dry all the way to the touch before adding the next coat. It shouldn't be sticky. Depending on temp and humidity you may be able to do the next coat in 1-2 hours, or the next day. Do 3 or 4 coats, it should be completely white. Let it cure for a week at least before doing your base coat of chalk paint. It might delay the project but you can do can have a day where all you do is prime, and then those pieces that are primed will be ready for paint the next week. 👍🏾

    Guurrrrllll I struggle with this also😫 They leach for months and months changing my finishes over time!! I like bleached light woods. So I can’t prime!!! Sometimes they turn PINKISH 🥲 you never know when they will show up and even on the same piece only certain boards leak!! Good luck 💙

    I wasn't that impressed with Green EZ stripper either, but I did try Smart Strip Pro and it is also eco-friendly, water clean up and found it worked really well. I think it needs to sit for 3 hours also, but it worked. I don't recall if I had to use plastic wrap to cover it, but for me, it removed several layers of paint at once. I did a side by side comparison of Citri-Strip, Green EZ, and the Smart Strip Pro and the Smart Strip was by far the best for removal.
